| Computer-Based Honors Program | University Honors Program | International Honors Program |
Honors College AdministrationSeparate campus-wide honors programs were first brought together at The University of Alabama in August 2002 when Dr. Robert Halli was named Director of the University Honors Program and Coordinator of the Computer-Based Honors Program and the International Honors Program, each of which has its own Director. Newly-inaugurated President Robert Witt assessed the size, vigor, prestige and potential of this programmatic combination and, at his request, the Board of Trustees created The Honors College of The University of Alabama in fall 2003, with Dr. Halli named as its Founding Dean. Simultaneously, top students enroll in one of the degree-granting colleges and join one or more of the programs in Honors College. Since its founding, Honors College has added a Recruiter and Coordinator for Prestige Scholarships and Awards, such as Rhodes, Truman, and Goldwater Scholarships and membership on the USA Today All-College Academic Team, an Office of Development, and, most recently, The Honors Academy, the liaison of the Honors College with secondary students and teachers. Over 1,700 students are members of one or more of the Honors College’s programs—that’s over 10% of the undergraduate student body at The University of Alabama.
