Admission to Honors

Future Students may apply to the Honors College after they have been admitted to The University of Alabama. Admission to the Honors College requires a 28 ACT or 1250 SAT and a minimum 3.5 high school GPA. You will be notified of your acceptance via email. (If your test scores are below the Honors College requirement, you can be admitted later after you have successfully achieved a 3.3 in your college coursework.)

The University of Alabama will accept both the previous SAT and the re-designed SAT (any SAT taken after March 5, 2016). If a student has taken both versions of the SAT, the University will take the highest score for admissions  and scholarship purposes. The highest score will be determined by utilizing test score conversion by the College Board. For more information about the conversion, visit the College Board web site at https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/educators/higher-ed/scoring-changes/concordance. The optional writing score in the re-designed SAT will not be required for admissions or scholarship purposes. Additionally, the writing section of the ACT will no longer be required for admissions or scholarship purposes.

Current UA Students admitted as full-time undergraduates with at least 12 UA hours and a minimum 3.3 overall GPA and Incoming Transfer Students with at least 12 overall hours and a minimum 3.3 overall GPA will be accepted to the Honors College upon submission of their applications. All Current UA Students must apply within their first academic year on campus to be eligible for admission. All students who apply with greater than 60 hours are required to draft a plan to finish all honors coursework prior to admission. You will be notified of your acceptance via email.
