The Honors AcademyCreated in 2005, the Honors Academy facilitates the relations of the Honors College with secondary school constituencies. By working with AP and IB teachers throughout the state and with UA's College of Continuing Studies and its summer seminars for such teachers, the Honors Academy seeks to create a strong educational bond by linking the Honors College and the University with the top high school students and their teachers.
As the newest department in the Honors College, the Honors Academy will advance the mission of the Honors College by establishing and maintaining relationships between high school teachers and university faculty as well as enhancing the accessibility of the resources the University has to offer.
Out of this founding vision more ideas will emerge as this department grows. One of our most important goals is to serve as a conduit for support and collaboration among exceptionally talented and dedicated educators and students throughout the state. Director: Lesa C. Shaul (B.A., University of Alabama, 1990; Ph.D., University of Georgia, 1996) |
