Facilities and Guidelines

The following descriptions are intended to aid program participants in their preparation for oral presentations and poster presentations.

Oral Presentation Facilities:

Both AIME 110 and AIME 111 are equipped with the Microsoft Office 2003 suite, which includes the PowerPoint application for presentations. The computers have a USB port and CD-ROM drive to load presentations onto the desktop. Each room includes: a speaker’s podium in the front corner of the room, a wired and wireless mouse and a screen centered in the front of the room. Room 110 is a multi-tiered room with a seating capacity of 65 attendees. Room 111 is a two-tiered room with a maximum seating capacity of 35 participants.

Oral Presentation Guidelines:

Speakers should load their presentations onto the desktop prior to the start of their presentation session. We will provide a room monitor to assist with any complications.

Speakers should plan to deliver an eight minute presentation followed by approximately three minutes of Question and Answers. Speakers will be discreetly signaled at the six minute mark to inform them that two minutes are remaining in their allotted presentation time. To ensure fairness to all speakers, a presentation will be halted at nine minutes to allow for Q&A.

Posters Presentation Facilities:

We will provide a 48x36 inch foam board and push pins to allow each presenter to mount their poster prior to the morning or afternoon session. Each poster will be placed upright on a 2 ˝ foot wide table for viewing. Presenters may also use the table for handouts or abstract copies. Presenters are expected to remain by their poster throughout the duration of their session.

Break periods:

We will provide light snacks, soda and bottled water during breaks between sessions.

Lunch:

A buffet lunch will be hosted in the AIME Atrium and will be immediately followed by a keynote address entitled “Worming Out Causes and Cures to Brain Diseases” by Dr. Guy Caldwell, 2005 Alabama Professor of the Year.

Parking

Parking passes will be distributed to our out-of-town participants and guests at the Registration Table.
