From The Director
As an undergraduate in an honors program, I thrilled to the discovery of new ideas in every field, of new potentials in myself, and of new friends with whom to share the honors experience. I still use ideas I developed in an undergraduate honors seminar when I teach Shakespeare's Hamlet, and my honors thesis became the seed of my doctoral dissertation.
Thus, I believe implicitly in the edification and delight of honors program work. Never tedious, and not extra-hard, such work is invigorating, social, exploratory, and fun.
Your experience in the University Honors Program will expand your knowledge, your skills, and your sense of self and society. You will find possibilities for yourself which you hadn't known existed, and you will learn to compete for the best with the best. The motto on the Honors Programs Student Association t-shirt says it all: Come as you are; leave as you want to be.
