Honors College Names Ashlyn Bell January 2026 Student of the Month

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Honors College has named Ashlyn Bell as its January Student of the Month.

Bell, a criminology and criminal justice major from Mobile, is actively involved across campus and within the Honors College. She is a member of the University Honors Program and serves as an Honors Year One mentor, supporting incoming Honors College freshmen as a peer mentor.

Bell is also a Rising Writers volunteer through Engage Tuscaloosa, where she dedicates one morning each week to working one-on-one with local students on in-class writing projects.

“Serving as an Honors Year One mentor and Engage Tuscaloosa volunteer has helped me build leadership skills and give back to the Tuscaloosa community during my time here,” Bell said.

Beyond the Honors College, Bell is a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, where she serves as recruitment chair, and is secretary of the Criminal Justice Student Association. She also serves as an associate justice on the SGA Student Judicial Board and is an academic leader for Alpha Gamma Delta. In addition, Bell participates in the Beat Auburn Beat Hunger Outreach Committee and the Freshman Forum.

Bell said her Honors College experiences have played a significant role in shaping her time at UA.

“The University Honors Program has made all the difference in my college experience,” Bell said. “Through Honors, I have formed meaningful relationships with professors and classmates and further explored my area of interest through specialized Honors courses.”

The Honors College congratulates Ashlyn Bell on being named the January 2026 Student of the Month.
