Honors College Names Lucas Ealy February 2026 Student of the Month

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Honors College has named Lucas Ealy as the February 2026 Student of the Month. Ealy, a political science major from Gaylord, Mich., is a member of the University Honors Program.

Ealy’s academic work in the Honors College emphasizes applied learning and community engagement, particularly through his involvement with Project GRACE, an initiative addressing community development and water access issues in Perry County.

“Through my coursework, I’ve learned to connect academic theory with real-world impact, particularly during my involvement in the Project GRACE initiative,” Ealy said. “Collaborating with classmates to address water access issues in Perry County showed me how meaningful change can start with thoughtful research and community partnership.”

Across campus, Ealy holds several leadership roles. He is the president and founder of Universities Against Cancer and serves on the Student Government Association Board of Governors. He also works as a first-year councilor for the Student Government Association.

In addition to his campus involvement, Ealy volunteers with the Whitfield Hospital Foundation and is a member of the Alabama Finance Association. He is also a member of the Blue Key Honor Society, Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society and Carl A. Elliott Honor Society.

“Honors has not only strengthened my critical thinking and communication skills but also encouraged me to pursue leadership and service opportunities across campus,” Ealy said. “The Honors College has challenged me to think beyond the classroom and approach issues with creativity and purpose.”

Ealy’s commitment to leadership, service and academic excellence reflects the mission of the Honors College. The University of Alabama Honors College congratulates Lucas Ealy on being named February 2026 Student of the Month.
