The application is open for the exciting academic team competition, the Global Health Case Competition. For this event, to be held in January 2018, teams of 4-6 students from different academic areas will receive a case scenario five days before the competition, reflecting a real-life health-related issue. Participants do not have to be health experts or in health-related majors, since the details and context of the case will be provided to the competitors.
Each team will have five days to develop feasible and culturally-appropriate innovations involving education and/or policy strategies that involve government, NGOS, and other important stakeholders. The teams will then present their solution to a panel of judges. Modest cash prizes will be awarded to UA’s top three teams. The winning team will go on to a statewide competition at the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Additional prize money will be available at the state competition.
This competition is an exciting way to apply all that students are learning in their academic programs. The time investment is minimal but the gains can be great! The deadline to apply is October 9. Click here to apply. For questions, click here to contact Dr. Ross Bryan, assistant dean of the Honors College. Teams will be contacted if they are selected to participate, and there will be two orientation/training sessions in November.
