HnFinArt: MOSAIC Magazine

  • UH 210
  • Teacher: Henry Latta
  • Term: spring 2020
  • Credits: 3

Mosaic is student-lead annual magazine and a magazine-style website for the Honors College. The course broadly addresses the role of magazines, websites and multimedia in today’s global marketplace, in part through classwork and in part by doing the work of creating and building Mosaic. The class will create a collaborative and cooperative approach to magazine and website work, working as groups of editors, writers, photographers, business minds, computer minds and designers. The class seeks experience in media, but not exclusively – we invite Honors College students from all disciplines to build and/or deepen their understanding and experience. There are a variety of roles to be played within both magazines, so your special ability can be fully engaged – and stretched. Bring your creative thinking, your imagination and your worldview. We will start building from the ground up and create a highest-quality magazine published and create a website that will emerge and continue to develop.

Honors Special Approval Application required.

All applicants must submit an email to course professor Dr. Henry John Latta (jlatta@ua.edu) explaining briefly (150-200 words) their interest in this course and any relevant experience (experience is not required); links to work examples are of use.
