Mr. Hester joined the Honors College in 2015 after working in Housing and Residential Communities as Assessment Coordinator. He is finishing a Ph.D. in Political Science with a concentration in Public Policy from The University of Alabama, and holds a Master’s in Economics, also from UA. His dissertation examines movement in state-level funding for higher education over the past decades and how changes in funding for education affects underrepresented students pursuing a college degree.
In his work with the Honors College, Andrew oversees Honors Year One, college-wide student services processes, program assessment, and scholarships. He also teaches a seminar on social change and service learning, which critiques the evolution of cultural values, norms, and behaviors in American society.
