Julio Larramendi, a native of Cuba, is the founder and first president of the Department of Latin American Photography at the Jose Marti International Institute of Journalism. His work has appeared in numerous publications, and he has exhibited his photographs in more than 150 solo and group exhibitions. He and Chip Cooper, a fellow Honors College instructor, recently published Campesinos: Inside the Heart of Cuba, a book of photography that chronicles three years traveling through the Cuban countryside.
