“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”

Thomas Merton, No Man Is an Island

We believe that learning is creative work. We believe that appreciating art makes you better. We encourage students to take a step back from traditional classroom education and see that the arts can teach us more about ourselves (a topic that must be included in a true education) and the world as a whole. It makes us better; it makes us smarter; it makes us…us! (And it just makes us a lot more fun – because believe it or not, sometimes it’s hard to find the fun in a ten-step physics problem) Join us for any (or all!) of our HCA arts awareness events such as:

Art Speaks is a series of art exhibits hosted in Honors Hall featuring students’ art. Each show (a couple are held each semester) features 2-3 Honors students’ work. In past shows we’ve had sculptures, paintings, and photographs, even organic clothing. It’s a great way for students to share their art – there’s live music, free food, talk with the artists, and a happy community vibe that keeps us going back for more.
