Why Honors?
Without the Honors College, I would not have the same college experience I now have. Reflecting upon my freshman year, everything from my friend group to my interests and studies would be different. The Honors College, and more specifically, the Blount Scholars Program, provided me with invaluable friendships, connections, and most importantly, education. Smaller and more specific classes made it so I know my professors well, and in turn, they know me personally. I was able to be fully enriched in my studies, not only learning straight from the texts, but studying them in my building, with my peers who are interested in the same things as I am but can provide different perspectives on a multitude of topics.
Furthermore, it has been an extremely rewarding experience to give back to the Honors College community through the Honors College Assembly and as an RA for an Honors College residence hall. I love to put on events, specifically, those pertaining to the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion field, for not only my peers but for the future of the Honors College: the freshman class.
Moreover, it has been a pleasure to be a leader and source of comfort in the lives of the residents in the Blount Learning and Living Community, a place that is near and dear to my heart. Overall, as cheesy and cliche as it sounds, I would not be the same person I am today without The University of Alabama Honors College.
