Valerie Tisdale recently joined the Honors College as the director of student services.

Tisdale is originally from Myrtle Beach, SC.  She completed an associate’s degree in criminal justice in Horry Georgetown Technical College and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Coastal Carolina University. Tisdale then spent three years in the social work field, including a year as part of the Americorps program, before moving into academic advising role in the Communication Department at Coastal Carolina. It was there that she completed an interdisciplinary graduate degree focusing on public policy and the criminal justice system. Tisdale then moved to Auburn University where she served as an advisor in the Department of Biological Sciences for five years where she enjoyed working with a variety of science majors.

Tisdale is excited to begin her journey at The University of Alabama and get to know the students in the Honors College and find the best way to be of service to students, faculty and staff.
