TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Honors College has named Andrew Banks as the December 2025 Student of the Month. Banks is a computer science major from Brandon, Miss., and a member of the Blount Scholars Program in the College of Engineering.
Banks’ academic foundation is shaped by the interdisciplinary environment of the Blount Scholars Program, where he developed the habits of analysis, curiosity and intellectual engagement that guide his work inside and outside the classroom.
“My involvement in the Blount Scholars Program pushes me to think critically, write analytically and remain curious,” he said.
His campus involvement spans leadership, service and student engagement through the Honors College Assembly, UA Vote Everywhere, the Camp 1831 A-Team Executive Board, Habitat for Humanity, Sigma Tau Gamma, UA Greek Ambassadors and Jasons Senior Men’s Honorary.
Banks also developed and led a capital campaign supporting student initiatives.
“During my time on campus, I had the opportunity to create a capital campaign from the ground up and run it successfully, raising more than $400,000 from chapter savings, donors and investments. The reading and writing skills I’ve developed through my coursework in the Blount Scholars Program were indispensable as I crafted a central message and worked to communicate it to a diverse network of potential donors and students,” he said.
His experience representing the Honors College shaped how he connects with students and contributes to the Honors community.
“The Honors College has been an integral part of my time at UA. Through the Honors College Ambassadors, I’ve had the honor of recruiting prospective students and helping them find the program that aligns with their goals. My time with the Honors College, whether learning, recruiting or simply engaging in meaningful discussions and making connections with fellow students, has always been well spent and has helped me succeed during my time in college,” he said.
The Honors College congratulates Andrew Banks on being named the December 2025 Student of the Month.
