TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Honors College has named Erin Acheson its November 2025 Student of the Month. Acheson, of St. Louis, is a marketing and management major in the University Honors Program.
Acheson serves as director of Engage Tuscaloosa’s READ Program, where she leads initiatives to promote childhood literacy and strengthen community engagement. She also participated in the Learning Initiative & Financial Training Program (LIFT) volunteering at the Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she helped support financial literacy and professional development for veterans.
“Being part of the Honors College has given me incredible opportunities to grow as a leader and make a meaningful impact, particularly through the Engage Tuscaloosa READ Program,” Acheson said. “As director, I have worked to promote childhood literacy by connecting UA students with local elementary schools and fostering a love for reading in young students. Seeing the direct impact of mentorship and education has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my college career.”
Acheson holds several leadership roles on campus. She is the Carnation Council director for Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Upsilon, and serves as AVP of Risk Management, a discipleship leader and a member of the workshop and 5K committees. She is also a Student Admissions Ambassador, a Greek Mental Health Ambassador, and a member of the UA American Marketing Association, Alabama Leadership Association, Al’s Pals Mentorship Program and Phi Eta Sigma Honors Society.
“Beyond Engage Tuscaloosa, the Honors College has provided a supportive community of driven, service-minded students and faculty who push me to excel academically and personally,” Acheson said. “Whether through leadership opportunities, engaging coursework or service initiatives like my work with LIFT at the Tuscaloosa VA, the Honors experience has been a defining part of my college journey.”
Congratulations to Erin Acheson on being named Student of the Month.
