General Tuition Support

General Tuition Assistance Scholarships may be available for students. Scholarships are awarded based on need and/or merit. All eligible Honors students are encouraged to apply.

Scholarship recipients will be required to write a letter of appreciation to the donor of their scholarship.  Questions regarding Honors College scholarships should be directed to honors@ua.edu.

Students must be currently enrolled in or have successfully completed Honors College coursework and be in good standing in order to be eligible to apply for scholarships. Students who have not enrolled in or successfully completed Honors College coursework will not be selected as a recipient for an Honors College scholarship – Study Abroad or General Tuition Assistance.

The Anderson and Mudd Families Honors College Educational Achievement Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to students enrolled in the Honors College at The University of Alabama.

Regan Stevens Branch Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to full-time students enrolled in the Honors College majoring in or pursuing an interest in theatre or communication studies at The University of Alabama.

The Cardinal Family Endowed Scholarship Fund

Priority of consideration is given to students who are enrolled in the Honors College at The University of Alabama who demonstrate financial need, although not necessarily need as defined by federal guidelines.

Ernest and Vivan Cory Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to sophomore, junior or senior students who are enrolled in the Honors College and who maintain at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale; are residents of the state of Alabama; are well-rounded as demonstrated by their involvement in on- and off-campus extracurricular activities; and who demonstrate financial need, although not necessarily need as defined by federal guidelines. 

Alton C. and Cecile C. Craig Endowed Scholarship in Honors

Priority of consideration is given to students enrolled in the Honors College.

The R. Alan and Jill V. Deer Family Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to students who are enrolled in the Honors College at The University of Alabama who graduated from high schools in Monroe County, Alabama, and who demonstrate financial need, although not necessarily need as defined by federal guidelines. Second priority of consideration is given to students who are enrolled in the Honors College at The University of Alabama who graduated from high schools in low-income counties in Alabama and who demonstrate financial need, although not necessarily need as defined by federal guidelines.

Gwaltney Family Foundation Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to students enrolled in the Honors College at The University of Alabama who are pursuing medical health sciences and who demonstrate financial need, although not necessarily need as defined by federal guidelines.

Cecil Fain Hackney, Jr. Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to students enrolled in the Honors College.

James P. Hayes Achievement Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to sophomores who enrolled in the Honors College through late entrance by achieving at least a 3.3 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and by having a strong high school and college record of extracurricular activities. 

David D. Heald Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to engineering students in the Honors College.

Ireland Family Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to undergraduate students enrolled in the Honors College who demonstrate financial need, although not necessarily need as defined by federal guidelines. Additional preference for students who graduated from the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Ann K. and Carl E. Jones Endowed Achievement Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to students enrolled in the Honors College.

John H. Josey Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to students enrolled in the Honors College who did not have sufficient test scores to be accepted into the college as incoming freshmen, but whose academic records have enabled them to join the University Honors Program sometime after the first semester of their freshman year. Additional preference is given to those students who demonstrate financial need, although not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines.

Josey Foundation Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration will be given to undergraduate students not admitted to the Honors College as freshmen, but who meet the requirements and are admitted to the Honors College after freshman year. Scholarships shall be given to students enrolled in the College of Human Environmental Sciences and the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration.

Olin B. King Endowed Achievement Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to students enrolled in the Honors College.

Bernice Strickland Kittrell Endowed Scholarship

First priority of consideration is given to students from Mobile County, Alabama, enrolled in the Honors College who demonstrate financial need, although not necessarily need as defined by federal guidelines. Other students in the Honors College may be considered only if no students from Mobile County are available to receive the scholarship. Additional factors for consideration are academic success and degree of involvement in extracurricular activities both in high school and at the University.

Ronald R. Mize Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to students enrolled in the Honors College at The University of Alabama who are studying finance or accounting.

Mary and E. Ray Ritch Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to full-time undergraduate students in the Honors College with preference to graduates of high schools in Madison County, Alabama.

Barrett and Tolly Shelton Endowed Scholarship Fund

Scholarship awards are made to students who have been accepted into the University Honors Program. The scholarship committee shall consider financial need.

Barrett C. and Tolly Gilmer Shelton Quasi Endowed Scholarship

Awards are made to students enrolled in the Honors College and who demonstrate financial need, although not necessarily need as defined by federal guidelines.

David and Susan Silverstein Health Advocacy Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to students enrolled in the Honors College who are pursuing studies and careers in health-related fields.

Betty Johnson Snell Endowed Scholarship

Priority of consideration is given to rising junior or senior students enrolled in the Honors College who are majoring in nursing. Additional preference is given to students with a demonstrated commitment to serving the medical needs of underserved women.

Jo Nell Usrey Stephens Endowed Fund for Honors Scholars

Priority of consideration is given to full-time students enrolled in the Honors College.

The Winslow Family Endowed Support Fund

This scholarship may only be awarded to students who are enrolled in the Honors College at The University of Alabama who graduated from high school in Montgomery, Alabama, and who are studying English, history or pre-medical studies.
