The Honors College selected Sarah Cosner as February 2024 Student of the Month. Cosner is a management major with a concentration in health care analytics and a minor in communication studies set to graduate this fall. She is in the Blount Scholars Program and is a Blount Scholars Program Ambassador.
“The Honors College and Blount Scholars Program have offered me incredible opportunities to become an impactful and open-minded learner,” Cosner said. “I am endlessly grateful for the relationships and support network that both programs have helped me develop during my time at UA.”
In addition to being an Honors student in the Blount Scholars Program, Cosner is in the Business Honors Program and Health Care Analytics Society. She serves as treasurer of Alpha Omega Epsilon, associate chief justice of the C&IS Academic Honor Council, and UA Miracle Co-Director of Data Analytics. Also, Cosner is a peer coach at the Learning Commons and a peer educator at the UA Career Center. Cosner also works as a pharmacy technician at DCH Northport Medical Center.
During her freshman year, Cosner went through medical struggles and is grateful for the support she received from the Honors College and the Blount Scholars Program.
“Medical struggles during the spring of my freshman year made me fearful of falling behind, yet the Blount Scholars Program and Honors College supported me through the toughest times,” said Cosner, “Honors students are not just considered another number at the University but are appreciated for their individuality and cared for when needed most.”
Cosner considers the Honors College her “home away from home” because of the care she received from the college during her time of need.
“Honors College programs motivate me to be better than I was yesterday and encourage others in our community to do the same,” Cosner said. “I cannot imagine my education without the Honors College and am so excited to carry on the lessons I have learned to graduate school in the fall!”
