The Honors College is excited to name Jillian Keegan as October’s Student of the Month. Keegan is from Folsom, California and is a senior double majoring in political science and psychology. Keegan shared about the transition from living in her hometown to studying at UA.

“Coming from California, I was nervous to attend such a large university,” Keegan wrote. “While being recruited to Alabama, I was told about the Honors College, and thought it was the perfect way to make that community a little smaller, with students who had similar aspirations as me.”

Keegan found some students with similar aspirations in the Honors College Ambassadors where she served as an ambassador and Vice President of Community last year. From Spring 2021 to August 2023 Keegan helped recruit prospective students to the Honors College as well as to the University as a member of UA’s Student Recruitment Team. Through her involvement at UA, Keegan has built many wonderful friendships.

“Since coming to UA,” Keegan wrote, “I have met some of the most caring and intelligent people, who always encourage me to do my best.”

From pursuing a Master of Public Administration in the Accelerated Master’s Program to being member of the Psi Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta, Keegan uses her talents to shine. Another example of Keegan’s dedication to academics is her membership in four honors societies.

Additionally, Keegan finds great support from the Honors College faculty.

“The faculty in the Honors College are also so supportive,” Keegan wrote, “I don’t think I have met professors and staff who care so much about students.”

Congratulations Jillian Keegan! The Honors College is so proud of your accomplishments and can’t wait to see what you achieve in the future.
