Kelly Nielsen recently joined the Honors College as OAII. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Utah’s School of Dance and she minored in history. After graduation, she taught dance for several years while also working at a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble. The part-time work at the bookstore launched her career in retail that spanned several states and included time with Williams-Sonoma, BuyBuy Baby and Barnes & Noble.

Nielsen is thrilled to be working with Honors College faculty and staff because of their enthusiasm for teaching, encouraging and challenging The University of Alabama’s best students to reach their full potential. “The Honors College creates a sense of community on campus while engaging with students to grow and become our future leaders,” said Nielsen.

Since moving to Tuscaloosa in 2017, Nielsen has embraced the state and University. She especially enjoys cheering on the Crimson Tide, supporting the visual and performing arts across the state and catching The Million Dollar Band at the Elephant Stomp. She surrounds herself with books in her free time, whether reading or creating her own book art. Kelly also enjoys riding bicycles with her husband, viewing and creating art with her daughter or playing board games with her son.
