Leadership Experience integrates diverse practical experiences with leadership concepts so that students can serve as informed, proactive leaders in various Honors College initiatives. The course utilizes a combination of small group discussions on leadership theory with opportunities for Honors College students to demonstrate their personal leadership styles.

This Honors Leadership course is meant to prepare student leaders of the Rocketry Challenge. Students will be expected to have taken either UH 101 or UH 120 (Sequenced Rocketry Challenge courses). Students will be prepared to be mentors of students in the UH 101 and will play an integral role with those students as well as fulfill service hours in the local Tuscaloosa Public Schools outreach programs. Students will use the Tuscaloosa Rocketry Challenge (and leadership within) project as a vehicle for leadership development, bettering their critical thinking skills, understanding educational reform and how engaged scholarship can be used to create agency and identity. Students in this course will learn and refine their leadership skills as they help mentor university students within the project. Students will be required to perform 25 hours within the public school system and pass a background check. This is a 3 hour credit course.
