Coordinator of Educational Outreach
Vicki is a graduate of The University of Alabama with both undergraduate and master’s degrees is Early Childhood Education. She also completed extensive post graduate work in reading development and instruction with a focus on struggling readers at The University of Alabama at Birmingham earning a certification as a Reading Specialist. Vicki’s teaching career was spent in schools with high concentrations of at-risk students in Greensboro, Alabama and the Tuscaloosa City Schools and served as Literacy Specialist for the Tuscaloosa County Schools where she worked with teachers and reading coaches on improving best practices. Along with her teaching, she was involved with the Alabama Reading Initiative as a trainer of teachers and reading coaches across the state of Alabama. Before her retirement, she was a clinical instructor in curriculum and instruction in the College of Education at The University of Alabama. Vicki is excited to share her passion for reading and working with underserved children with Honors College students through her work in Educational Outreach.
