Medicine and Community is an Honors service-learning course that explores the scope and impact of healthcare in rural communities. West Alabama provides an ideal classroom for the experiential, hands-on course—there is a need for comprehensive rural medicine and a unique opportunity for pre-medical students to gain exposure to this facet of healthcare.
Once he starts talking, he doesn’t stop for a while. He loves what he does—it’s obvious. It’s that sort of unapologetic passion that makes Dr. George Daniels a valuable part of the Honors College community.
Before starting his freshman year at UA, Jeff Rogers took part in Alabama Action, a week-long service project for incoming freshmen in the Honors College, and as a result, “I saw what civic engagement could be.”
